New York Judge Osterman Gets One Year In Bribe Case
Former Claims Judge Melvin Osterman, 60, was sentenced to one year in city prison for his role in a multi million dollar shakedown tied to the state Liquor Authority. Osterman denied nothing, admitted attempting a 5000 dollar bribe to former Liquor Authority Chairman Martin Epstein in 1962 to gain leniency for a Manhattan liquor firm. He was the first big-name figure in the scandal to be sentenced.
