Connecticut Firm Low Bidder on Tar and Asphalt
Public Works Commissioner John F. Daniels announced Friday his intention to award tar and asphalt emulsion contracts to Guyott Co. of New Haven as the lowest bidder of four for both bids. The firm will deliver about 75.08 gallons of tar at 24 cents per gallon and supply about 23,000 gallons of asphalt emulsion at 17.2 cents per gallon. Chlorine and winter sand contracts will also be awarded next week. The Baker Chemical Co. of Springfield leads the chlorine bid at 8 cents per pound for 75 pounds of liquid chlorine, with a 12 month term starting April 1. Daniels will study sand bids further before awarding that contract.
