New Marlboro Project Abandoned by Parker
GREAT BARRINGTON Edward L. Parker a real estate developer of New York City and Miami Fla told The Eagle Friday night he has abandoned plans to develop the Marlboro Manor estate in New Marlboro Problems with holders of first and second mortgages on the manor property forced him to halt plans to divide 300 acres of the former Bloodgend estate into summer camp lots and run the manor house as a year round inn Reports of a meeting at the manor between Parker Mihaly of Canton Conn and mortgage holders indicated Parker wanted releases of scattered lots while lenders sought blocks Parker had invested about 33000 including a down payment and improvements He had denied plans to leave after town subdivision regulatory disputes and said he would pursue a 450 acre tract with a large lake near Columbia Conn instead and would begin negotiations there Monday morning He added the New Marlboro reversal also affected his Connecticut speculation and planned to proceed with Columbia Lake this summer.
