In Osksieasa Aug 25 Taylor of Evans coal camp near here is charged with ravine criminally assaulting his two daughters aged 16 and 13. He was held in the Ma Rske county jail, guarded by officers from the penitentiary where he previously served two terms for abusing an 11 year old girl at Eddyville in 1942. A mob of miners threatens lynching, and Taylor hid in a nearby woods before being captured and jailed. His wife and younger daughter were beaten and the older daughter left semiconscious.
W. M. Estes suffered a near fatal accident when his horse bucked and dragged him by a barb wire, tearing his body from hips upward and exposing the jugular. He was freed, crawled to aid, and later walked with medical help as surgeons treated deep wounds and sewed portions of the injuries. Estes remains under care after being released from the wire entanglement.
Martin Besch of Marshalstown sustained severe injuries after leaping from a Durlieston freight train near Nebr Ausus 26 The man was found near the Rubinsten track and transported to The Roestits. Doctors reported multiple fractures to facial bones and masal tones with a crushed countenance He remained unable to speak for hours and heart injury possibility arose after admission Beal was later arrested and fined $25 plus costs for earlier abuse by Bird Besl involving torture threats Police investigated the incident and Justice Thompson presided over the case.

Cities from Avoca to Corning faced washed bridges, damaged grades, and extensive property destruction amid a weeklong repair task.

A despondent mother, Mrs Arthur Cook of Newton, killed herself after bidding farewell to her two year old babe and her husband. She drank strychnine at a neighbor's home following family troubles and ill health. She was about age thirty and had a unhappy marriage with prior suicide attempts. Local authorities report the incident as a self inflicted death and note the husband works at Cook's meat market.
Washington reports indicate William C. Magelssen United States vice consul at Beirut Syria was killed while riding in a carriage. The State Department demanded punishment of the guilty and Admiral Cotton's squadron was ordered to Beirut in case of Turkish inaction.
