A jumble of notices mentions Tharp the barber and Joe George offering shave and bathe services at Tharp's. Also included are farm ads, employment offers, home products from Fellows and Geiser, local travel and visiting notes, a note on Muldoon’s Picnic at Watson’s, and social items about weddings and farewells in Vinton. It records hospital furloughs, soldiers headed to Cuba, and local theatre plans.
Hilles T. Crawford was admitted into the full itinerant connection at the Upper Iowa conference in Marion last week. He left for Butler county to take full charge of the Cold Water circuit and plans to meet his charges next Sunday before returning to his family. Born and raised in Benton county, he enters the ministry with firm resolve to fulfill his duties as a conscientious God fearing man.
A late evening collision near Mt. Auburn involves Miss Maggie St. Clair as a buggy is struck by a passing special train just north of the town. The horse bolted and the buggy tore apart. St. Clair's arm is broken and internal injuries are feared. Dr. Griffin was summoned to the scene.

The noble Aragon K driven by Carlos Kelley proved a gamy trotter in state circles. Shipped to Des Moines for a 2 14 trot, the race was postponed by management. Aragon then went to Cedar Rapids for the free for all at the Friday carnival where the horse won easily.
The Eagle reports the inner circle planned to discredit Miller by pressuring the County Central Committee. Murphy and his ring sought to replace Miller with their chosen man. Rozenberg was the second choice and would have faced Miller if Whipple failed. with Whipple declining, Rozenberg is named to fill the vacancy.
