George Allen Campbell, born 1830 in Victoria, dies from injuries after a fall from a telephone pole while at work for Babcock Telephone Construction Company near Le Mara Iowa. He lived in Vinton most of his life, attended local school, and completed electrical engineering studies. Funeral held at Presbyterian Church in Vinton with military funeral honors from Company G at Evergreen Cemetery.
The Baldrige Grove hosts a grand Fourth of July celebration with a picnic on July 4. Hon W. Whipple of Vinton will deliver the address, with other speakers expected. Sports and new features promised, committees busy to ensure a lively event. Everyone is urged to attend and enjoy.
