Drs Marxes, Dec. 3. The state dairy commissioner holds exact statistics on Iowa butter shipments by creameries and railroads for the past year. Total creameries 954, up 63. Butter shipments declined from 99,547,684 pounds in 1897 to 92,299,211 pounds in 1898, a decrease of 7,248,473 pounds.
Dr T M Christy president of Christy Coal Company was sleighing with his daughter and Miss Frances Hemenway when two horses started and the cutter upset. One horse was killed and Christy is in critical condition from concussion of the brain.
In Cuinfox district court Judge Wolfe sentenced John Sudson to ten years in the penitentiary. Hudson shot and killed Patrick Murphys at Wheatland on October 23 after a day of quarrel. Rev Theodore N Morrison of Chicago won the Iowa bishopric at Cedar Rapids on the second ballot defeating Dr Green. Morrison 26 clerical and 76 lay votes to Green 18 clerical and 52 lay. Cornell 2. Morrison, 48, born in Ottawa Illinois, trained at Illinois College and General Theological Seminary, served Pekin, then moved to Chicago in 1876 becoming rector of Epiphany Church.
