Fire damages home as oil stove ignites kerosene
About 6 o clock Sunday evening a fire alarm sent neighbors to the home of Newty Peterson on East Railroad Street where a kerosene oil burning stove caught fire. Peterson tried to beat the flames with a coat and suffered severe burns to the face and head. Firemen found no need to use water after loading the stove outside. The stove fire had already been checked before it spread to walls, though smoke filled the home and caused a hurried, mussed scene for onlookers.
