Death of Seth Merrill in Benson area
Seth Merrill died at his home last Tuesday night after a two week illness that started with influenza and developed into pneumonia. A mining foreman with long experience, he had worked in Johnson for about 12 or 13 years and held positions including Empire property manager and roles with Republic and Cabriza. He leaves a wife and six children and was about 43, nephew to John S. Merrill Sr. of St. David. Burial will be in Pima, Graham county, his former home. The Signal thanks physicians including Dr. Morrison and hints at a future local deal of significance to Benson area.

Canfield Son Killed in Action in France
Harold W. Canfield, son of Mr. and Mrs. H. A. Canfield of Tucson, formerly Benson, was killed in action in France on November 2. Born November 15, 1886, he grew up in Woodstock Ontario and lived in California and Arizona before enlisting in the Canadian army. He leaves his widow and his parents along with two sisters and a brother in Los Angeles.
