Citizens urged to join a county wide campaign against flies and mosquitoes led by Dr. Harry Reese and RE. A. Brown in Benson. Residents are told to clean yards and property this week and follow printed instructions next week to prevent disease spread.
The Radcliffe Chautauqua begins April 16 at K P Hall and runs through April 17 and 18. Descriptive bills promote the varied program. H Q Robertson is president and A G Smith secretary treasurer of the local guaranty committee. C F Moss and Chas E Goetz lead red and blue ticket teams with aid from High School students. The Cochise and Crescent literary societies back red and blue sides. A ten dollar prize rewards the big ticket sellers. Net receipts beyond the guarantee go to the C R R club.
Rev. William Brown pastors morning worship at 11 with Rev. H Henderson as Sunday school missionary for Cochise county and evening service at 8. Sunday school at ten forms graded classes for all ages, with Mr. Chas C Cash superintendent.

Jack Ewell, nephew of Mrs. A. W. Bard, has been discharged from military service at Fort Bliss Texas. He spent seven months on the battle front largely at the St Mihiel salient using a new mechanical device aided by sound and math to locate enemy gun positions. He landed at Newport News from a transport two weeks ago and will resume his bank position in Ajo after a visit at home.
Texas capitalists have sent men into the community to secure oil leases. After two or three weeks of work the representatives have secured a considerable acreage but not enough to start operations. Local residents are urged to sign leases to help develop an oil field, guided by a geologist report claiming oil beneath the valley.
A Thursday night banquet at the Benson Union High School served 98 guests with a well prepared meal by the Domestic Science department. Host commentary praised the trained serving staff and the event showcased St. David Pomerone and Miramonte representatives with speakers including H Q Robertson Prof Baker Lorenzo Wright M P Cosby and Orrick Robertson.
Attendees heard Edgar Morrison share front line views on going Over the Top and Geo H Maxwell deliver talks on Conservation Reclamation and Restoration. Maxwell promised more insights in future meetings as the group filled the venue with a sense of ongoing discussion. Net proceeds from the banquet support the San Pedro Valley C R R Club.
Sr Emiliano Arcia an 82 year old resident of Mexican descent died after being struck by an El Paso and Southwestern train while attempting to cross yard tracks near the station. Funeral services were set for 4:30 this afternoon at the Catholic Church with burial in the local cemetery. The deceased had many relatives in the area and sympathy is offered for his tragic death.
A Sunday auto party led by Mr. and Mrs Wm Dunbar traveled to Ochoa where Judge Rucker joined Jose Huerta and Eugenia Dominguez in marriage. The group then returned to Texas Canyon for a hearty lunch prepared by Mrs. Dunbar and the Clark sisters, with coffee by Wm Dunbar, ending with a rock and hillside outing before returning to Benson.
