New Electronics Lab Streamlines Fenton High Education

The Fenton High School industrial arts department opened a new electronics lab this fall with DeVry equipment valued at about $20 000. Instructor Richard Hamilton teaches 96 students across general shop and basic electronics plus an advanced course planned. The program aims at general education, not full vocational training, and expands facilities with state and federal funds while anticipating more classes next year.

Youth movie critics pick 40 titles for Bensenville series

Seven Blackhawk Junior High students selected 40 potential films for the Bensenville Park District Saturday Afternoon at the Movies series. They grouped choices into scary humorous and teeny bopper categories and will see about 20 shown with additions by Dan Plaza. The Chippewa School auditorium hosts the screenings with 35 cent admissions and a season pass for four dollars.

Eye on new Bensenville fire station ground breaking hoped

Bensenville officials expect to break ground for a proposed fire station about three weeks after the council approves bids due October 8. Architect costs and plan changes may be needed if bids exceed the budget, with the site at York Road and Third Street on the White Pines Golf Course leased from the park district.

Youth Faces Drug Charge In Bensonville Case

An 18 year old Melrose Park resident, John Partipillo, was arrested by Bensonville Police on possession of dangerous drugs. He paid 10 percent of a $5,000 bond and awaits Wheaton Court appearance. Officers found pills and capsules with possible LSD residue, marijuana traces, and plant material in his vehicle. samples were sent to Joliet Crime Lab for analysis.

Gold Rush Days Bring Parade Treasure Hunt Quick Draw Debut

Bensenville Lions Club hosts Gold Rush Days this weekend with a parade along Green Street to York Road ending at the VFW hall. A noon parade follows a children's treasure hunt at 10 a.m. on Oct 3 and a steak fry 11:30 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. at York Road Fire Hall with a $2.25 dinner. A quick draw show by Chicago Fast Draw Club runs during the fry, and a Saturday night dance from 9:30 p.m. to 12:30 a.m. at the Flick-Reedy plant with $2 tickets sold at local shops.

Seay-Thomas development potential resurfaces near Bensenville

A stalled Seay-Thomas Inc and United Insurance Co project on a 69 acre tract south of Bensenville near Grand Avenue may seek a new developer. Village President John Varble said a formal announcement is possible the first week of October. The plan envisioned a 1300 unit, 30 million dollar complex housing about 2600 people with lifts, underground parking, pools and recreational amenities.
