Youngsters at Mohawk Chippewa W A Johnson and Tioga schools craft gifts for Mother's Day. Projects include seed planting, three dimensional flower cards, paper animals booklets poems and handmade jewelry.
A 21 year old Bensenville man, Joseph Jackson of 154 S Judson, received a continuance on a DUI case after his car struck a fire plug and a parked auto on Center Street. Police observed staggering and speech difficulty while blood and urine samples were sent to a state lab. Bond was set at 1000 dollars and the next court date is June 22 at 1 p.m. in Addison field court to secure legal counsel.
At a crowded public hearing in Bensenville officers from the Illinois Division of Highways outlined plans to extend Route 83 from Woodland Avenue to Devon in Elk Grove Village. Two access options with 50 mph and 45 mph zones are debated, including pedestrian overpasses and frontage roads with costs of about 6.4 million and 5.7 million dollars respectively. Community groups and private citizens urged safe crossings for students and pedestrians, while some residents warned against turning Route 83 into a high speed freeway and favored limited access and lower speeds. Public comment and written submissions were to be considered by the highway division before final actions and before routing to the U.S. Bureau of Public Roads.
