Fenton voters reject 21 cent education tax by narrow margin

Final unofficial results show 1 637 no and 1 491 yes on a 21 cent educational tax increase. Fenton will keep a low tax rate but face program cutbacks and possible loss of accreditation without more funds by 1970.

Mehl Named City Editor of the Register

Geoffrey L. Mehl is appointed city editor of the Register replacing Patricia Hensel who resigned to join Oshkosh Wis. He will lead the news staff. previously assistant city editor for the Elk Grove Herald and a Paddock Publications manager since 1968. He started as a sports writer for the Downers Grove Graphic and worked in journalism roles across several papers.

Wood Dale seeks state aid to widen Wood Dale Road

DuPage County plans to four lane Wood Dale Road by 1970 and asks Gov. Ogilvie to press the state highway department to approve intersection improvements at Wood Dale and Irving Park roads. The plan shares a $215000 cost, with county to extend widening 1000 feet toward village limits and hopes for bids this summer and work to start this fall.
