Hoosick won HUD grant for rent subsidies
Hoosick Town Housing Authority won a 105,672 grant from HUD to subsidize rent for 50 low income families each year for five years. Subsidies up to 275 dollars per unit annually go to households paying more than 25 percent of income. The aim is to reduce the rent burden to 15 to 25 percent. Attorney Rolf Sternberg led the grant filing and said the authority may receive funds in mid November with first come, first served applications. HUD had asked to limit the subsidized units, but the authority secured the grant anyway.
