Rifleman Grover arraigned after Bennington standoff
Clifford T. Grover 30 of Bennington pleaded not guilty to simple assault in Bennington District Court after a tense hour long police search in Jefferson Heights ended on Dewey Street near Putnam Memorial Hospital. He was ordered held without bail and ordered to undergo up to 60 days evaluation at Waterbury State Hospital. Grover allegedly pointed his rifle at Bennington Police Detective David Brown during the search following sightings on Union Street.
