Rutland's Attitude Spurs Farmer John Squires to Move
Vermont dairy farmer John Squires of Tinmouth has faced repeated city and state obstacles selling fresh vegetables from his truck in Rutland. Officials cited traffic hazards and urged relocation, while the merchant community offered mixed support. Squires relocated twice, then faced a new hurdle from a state engineer who labeled his site a public rest area not suitable for truck farming. He plans to write Gov. Salmon for help as weather services predict fair to unsettled conditions through the weekend.
