Regional oil unit proposed in New England plan

U.S. Representative Michael J. If not feasible, he proposed a compact among New England states to share offshore oil revenues and regulation. Half a century at Lye Brook wilderness tale

In 1914 Rich Lumber Company began clear cutting around Richville climbing to Stratton Mountain. Steam mills fed by logs from Lye Brook cut millions of board feet yearly until 1919 when a fire destroyed the sawmill and 300 workers lost their jobs. By 1975 the area was designated Vermont wilderness, protected from logging, with Daley Rizio recalling the old days and the company’s migration from Wanakena to Manchester.
