Congress limits Safeguard ABM expansion to two sites

A House Senate conference committee approved limiting expansion of the Safeguard antiair ballistic missile system to two more sites, blocking work on four requested locations. The plan would keep the system at Whiteman AFB Missouri and Warren AFB Wyoming while approving two existing sites Malmstrom AFB Montana and Grand Forks AFB North Dakota. The move narrows ABM reach and blocks a nationwide defense against broader attacks.

Burlington firm appeals Chittenden panel over Shelburne plant

The panel granted a one year permit with four conditions including a five year lease limit for International Salt Co. and a 23 acre land conveyance to Shelburne for wildlife and recreation.
