Bennington hosts 10th Antique Car Meet at airport event
The Bennington Chamber of Commerce held the 10th annual Antique and Classic Car Meet at Bennington Airport with about 5,500 spectators despite threats of rain. Some 190 cars entered from New Jersey to Canada competing for best car, fun car prizes, and field events. 135 flea market booths offered parts and memorabilia. The top car was a 1930 Cadillac dual cowl phaeton owned by George Luchetti of Weston, Massachusetts, restored since February at an estimated $75,000. Events included slow and back up races, a cranking contest, and various fun car awards. An antique Waco biplane flew in from Springfield, Vermont, while other planes were on display.
