Putnam Memorial Hospital unveils new building wing
The new 66,000 square foot Putnam Memorial Hospital wing opens early with the emergency room X ray and lobby in use. Public open house is planned Sunday September 29 from 1 to 4 30 p m. Patient areas will open in early October and remodeling is slated for completion by 1978 with a total project cost around 6 million dollars.

Charter vote to retain Bennington districts described
Bennington selectmen moved to ask voters at a special Town Meeting to amend the town charter and retain the old three subdistrict residency requirements for selectmen. Town Counsel Norton Barber noted a 50 day process with hearings and warnings, delaying a November ballot. If approved, the amendment would need state legislative approval to take effect for the next March Town Meeting. ACLU Sues Over Mt Anthony High School Voting Plan
