Kidnapped Heiress Returned Unharmed by Mental Patient
The heiress wife of an Orrington physician was released unharmed by a Bangor State Hospital escapee after about 24 hours. Roger R. Haller, 31, a Korean War veteran from Bangor, fled last Saturday and remained at large in central Maine near Belgrade Lakes. Mrs. Lynn Pierce McGinn, 28, daughter of Allen Pierce, was spotted driving home in a 1965 white station wagon after troopers found her unharmed and Haller reportedly wanted to surrender but feared injury. State police and bloodhounds tracked the fugitive as roadblocks restrained traffic from the Belgrade region.
