Granite Monastery Edifice Up on Mount Equinox Site
Granite blocks of three tons each, totaling 2400 stones, are hauled daily from Hill farm by William E. Dailey Co. toward a Sandgate shoulder of Mount Equinox for the Carthusian Foundation. The quarry caravan will make 800 trips by next year as a special three-ton boat rig attached to a diesel tractor places stones upright for monk cells and gardens. Victor Christ-Janer is architect, Turner Construction Co. general contractor.
