UAW Extends Strike Against GM Across North America
About 350000 United Auto Workers in 16 states and Canada walked out at General Motors after 60 days of fruitless talks. GM negotiator Bramblett called it a strike against reason as Woodcock warned of ongoing talks after a brief stoppage. The union with a 120 million dollar fund could sustain six to eight weeks of benefits, with production of 1971 models and Vega likely halted.
