Spectators bewildered by Jelley penalties at Lebanon Valley
At Lebanon Valley Speedway spectators were puzzled as Yellow X driven by Butch Jelley led the Sportsman Main Event but trailed to Jerry Townley after two penalties. Jelley was penalized for passing on a yellow light and for being out of position on the green, costing him the win and a potential $500 bonus. Barry Purdy won the main event. Sentine's 3 and Kurt Van Hawkins followed. Heats crowned Claude Hoard and others in the Sportsman and Limited divisions.
