Vermont buys Rutland Railway track to lease to Blount
Vermont purchases a 26 mile section of the Rutland Railway between Rutland and Ludlow for 325000 and plans a two year lease to F Nelson Blount and the Green Mountain Railway Corp. Public Service Board chair Ernest W Gibson III announced the consummation by telephone with Rutland president William S Ginsburg. The purchase leaves three segments of the abandoned line in state hands after 1963 legislative funding to reactivate it. Gibson said the lease would count for the three percent interest annually on state bonds.
