Murphy fires Ware as planning chief in Troy Rensselaer
In Troy, County Executive William J. Murphy dismissed Thornton K. Ware after more than five years as planning director citing job performance. Ware disputed the claim, saying the split centered on philosophy. Murphy named John L. Buono to interim duties. Early results show Sheriff William A. R. Harkness leading Liberal and Conservative tickets in a tight Democratic primary. Voter turnout was light in rural Rensselaer County with some districts recording a single ballot. Republican contenders reportedly routed their lone challenger, James A. Pasinella.
