Selectmen Scale Down Model Sewage Project
Bennington selectmen voted 4-1 to back a scaled down study of spray irrigation sewage disposal to be done by Dubois and King at an estimated cost of 5 000 to 10 000 dollars. The panel rejected a larger 65 000 dollar plan by Prof John Schaefer, though both would receive 90 percent federal state funding. Dr Paul Scott warned the decision reduces irrigation system prospects.

Shaftsbury votes to uphold Adler on board and reject librarian funding
In Shaftsbury, the annual meeting reconsidered the June 24 actions. Voters confirmed Dr. Irving Adler to the school board while rescinding the $3,500 library librarian appropriation. The 7th graders’ return to the elementary school was rejected 240 to 30. Adler defeated Lorna Cole 140 to 132. The $3,500 staff status for Joan Manross was defeated 141 to 129.
