Former Teamsters leader James R Hoffa said he canceled a planned Hanoi visit to press for POW releases after a news leak and a passport validation dispute. U.S. doctors report acupuncture helps pain at Houston clinic
Two MD Anderson Cancer Center physicians treated a 37 year old woman with acupuncture after unexplained leg and foot pain. After two brief sessions on August 18 and 28 she stood and walked without severe pain, avoiding what would have been a cordotomy surgery. The doctors say the method was a pain relief measure, not anesthesia, and results may not be permanent.
