Would-be restaurateur challenges Arlington planning hurdles
Arlington businessman Carl Bernhardt alleges misdirection by the Arlington Planning Commission as he seeks to build a family restaurant in town. He says state and highway approvals were promised, but a Aug. 17 Act 250 hearing revealed the site lies in a rural residential zone, blocking the project. Bernhardt notes his plans include chicken, steak, shrimp and daily specials and emphasizes he will labor and source materials locally to keep costs down. He plans to present engineering reports to the selectmen and has circulated a petition of local support.
