Bennington Airport Expands Flight Activity and Facilities
Bennington Municipal Airport sees rising aviation activity with 11 home-based planes up from 8, 20 residents taking flight instruction, and about 40 transients landing monthly. The airport added a 450 foot runway extension, a new terminal hangar, and a turf runway, with Joe Whittemore as full-time airport manager since last November. A CAP squadron and Experimental Aircraft Association chapter operate on site, and a Vermont Flying Farmers fly-in is planned for September. Whittemore notes more lights, a fence, tie-downs, and a radio net, with future maintenance expansion and hangar space planned.
