Clark Art Institute acquires Ugolino altarpiece in first purchase
The Sterling and Francine Clark Art Institute buys a seven part Ugolino da Siena altarpiece, 11 by 5 feet, in pristine condition from around 14th century Siena. The piece, praised for its stark, intense design and restored state, is the museum's inaugural major 14th century work and prompts questions about future acquisitions.
