Vermonts top local prosecutor says he has no confidence in the Justice Department to handle Watergate prosecutions. He criticizes a dismal five year record and calls for a special prosecutor named by Judge Sirica or by Congress to ensure independence.
The Twentieth Century Fund announces a new study led by Howard A. Latin of UC Berkeley on legal regulatory reforms and protections for computerized personal data. It will assess advances in computer technology and risks of unwarranted use, proposing measures to curb misuse. Latin, a former IBM systems programmer, aims to report regulatory costs and governance options.
First Lt. Hugh E. Galvin III, a 1956 Bennington High School graduate and former Union Carbide trainee, is named commanding officer of Company C, 368th Engineer Battalion, at 16 North St Extension Rutland. He succeeds Capt. Duncan A. Hunter Jr., now on Battalion staff in Concord New Hampshire. Hunter previously served with Detachment 1, Company D, 104th Engineer Battalion in North Springfield.
