Local man to receive medal for protecting godwits habitat

Edward Cottier will be awarded a gold medal by the Royal Society for the Protection of Birds for guarding the breeding grounds of the black tailed godwit. He spent 17 years patrolling marshes each April May and on weekends to keep out intruders and egg collectors.
