Group forms to buy State Line house
A coalition led by the Community Arts Association of Southwest Vermont and the Park-McCullough House Association seeks to purchase the State Line House at the New York Vermont border on Route 67. The former discotheque, called the Mathews farm by historians, is offered for sale at a favorable price for local artists. Purified methane matches natural gas in odorless quality and 60 percent heat, with 1,000 cubic feet equating to 5.2 gallons of gasoline. In the San Francisco Bay area 5 million people produce about 5 million cubic feet daily, enough for nearly 10 million gallons yearly. Los Angeles already powers its sewage system with methane and sells surplus to a power plant.
