Governor Announces Pilot Project To Halt Farm Abandonment
Governor Hoff announced an 18 month pilot program in Vermont to raise farm income and curb abandonment of marginal farms funded by a 179012 grant from OMAT US Labor. The plan targets 100 low income families with 50 on the job training positions and up to 25 weeks of instruction. The project aims to improve productivity, explore new farm activities, and expand market outlets while offering counseling and post program follow ups. It envisions diverse training including non farm opportunities and small manufacturing.
