Budget proposal would dismantle two state agencies
Senate Appropriations Committee Chairman John Boylan proposes a fiscal 1977 budget that would eliminate 201 jobs and dismantle the Environmental Conservation Agency and the Agency of Development and Community Affairs. The plan would cut 28 Environmental Agency posts and 35 in the Development Agency, plus 15 and 123 posts in the Administration and Human Services agencies. The aim is about 4.2 million in savings, though some funds would shift under wage and tax relief provisions. Boylan says the changes would improve government efficiency and adds that the Senate and House Appropriations Committees will review proposals in late fall alongside the Salmon administration plan.
