Houston, UPI: Texas researcher Dr. Peter Kellaway of Baylor College of Medicine Methodist Hospital Epilepsy Research Center describes monkey studies toward an onboard brain computer to monitor impulses and trigger stimulation to prevent seizures. If impractical, a warning system could still help with driving or medication. He notes epilepsy affects about one in 200 people and current treatments include anticonvulsants, with surgery and conditioning used sometimes.
