The Electric Company preview boosts public broadcasting launch
A preview of The Electric Company, a new half hour children series by the Children's Television Workshop with Bill Cosby and Rita Moreno, premiered on commercial stations and heads to PBS Monday to aid reading for seven to ten year olds. The project, backed by seven million dollars from the Office of Education and foundations, seeks to engage minority and disadvantaged youths with a mix of sketches, animation, and music, while acknowledging television may not educate as hoped.
