Elm Street site chosen for new post office here
The Post Office Department announced the Elm Street site is selected for a new post office building. The land at 108 and 112 Elm Street, owned by George H. Plumb and Leon R. Eldred, was optioned last July and the building will be privately owned and leased to the government. The department will invite bids after plans are set, with the option transferring to the winner who purchases the land and constructs the building. Bennington's regional planning group had sought a say but action was taken without its recommendation. Postmaster Stanley Pekalski said the space is badly needed.
