Chattanooga cleans air and cuts particulates citywide
Chattanooga marked a major step in atmospheric rehabilitation with Clean Air Day, as 160 of 200 industrial facilities met federal state particulate standards and downtown particulates dropped 55 percent. The city aims for 75 micrograms by 1975, aided by $15 million in controls and a shift from coal to gas and electricity.
