Putnam’s Fourth Floor Rehab Opens at Memorial Hospital
Putnam Memorial Hospital accelerates extended care plans begun in 1965 with Medicare act support, opening its fourth floor for rehabilitation. Eight patients move in during first week, including former board president Dr. Joseph G. Davidson, as administrator Robert D. Stout tours the new wing. The unit will raise capacity from 110 to 166 beds, with four day and three night staff on the floor, and feature drive-in facilities, personal care rooms, a rehabilitative kitchen, and future therapy programs under Dr. Dorothy Hager and Berkshire Rehabilitation Center leadership.
