Chelsea Fire Disaster Blamed On Local Fire Safety Indifference
The National Fire Protection Association blamed Chelsea officials for crass indifference to fire safety after a massive blaze hit the industrial port city. Gov. Sargent sought federal disaster aid as 2,000 homeless and 600 jobless, with $100 to $500 million in damage. No deaths reported.
