Doctors Remove Fist Sized Growth From Cardinal Cushing
In Boston Cardinal Richard Cushing underwent a nine minute operation to remove a fist sized growth from the back of his neck. Physicians planned biopsy tests to confirm malignancy and his surgeon Dr James Doonan reported the results would arrive today. The 70 year old archbishop, resting at St Elizabeth's Hospital, cancelled appointments to rest, having endured multiple surgeries since February.

Resident Reports UFO Sighting Over Bennington Sky

Mr and Mrs Stanley B Schreuder of RD Bennington lost their white German Shepherd after arriving from Weybridge. They placed an ad in the Bennington Briefs via Kelton Miller of The Banner. Miller spotted the dog near St Joseph College and retrieved it, then Buckler walked it to give it air until the Schreuders were reached.

Harvard University treasurer George F. Bennett announced in a Board of Overseers report that investments at year end reached 1,013,751,035 with general and special funds totaling 980,189,006 and 33,562,035 respectively. Endowment income covered only 21 percent of costs, as expenses rose to 119 million for 1964-65 from 42 million a decade earlier.
