Soyuz 25 lands safely after aborted mission
In Soviet Asia two cosmonauts Vladimir Kovalenok and Valery Ryumin landed the Soyuz 25 capsule after a near docking failure with the Salyut 6 station. The two rookies, in good condition, parachuted to a Kazakhstan site near Tselinograd.

One More Vermont Legionnaires Case Reported
UPI reports the CDC has identified one more highly probable Legionnaires case in Vermont. Vermont now totals 18 confirmed cases with 12 deaths, and 11 suspected cases with one death. Investigations in Burlington and surrounding areas have found additional confirmed and suspected cases, with the latest in mid September.

Czech hijacked airliner lands in Frankfurt asylum sought
