Recommendation Delayed Burdis Tells Planning Board He's Getting Postal Runaround
Bennington planning consultant John C. Burdis told the Bennington Regional Planning Commission he has faced delays in obtaining a survey of the present Bennington Post Office from the Post Office Department. The commission postponed a site recommendation until Burdis has the survey and a report detailing 12 candidate sites. Four sites remain under consideration: the current site, the town office building site, the Silver and Main Streets corner (old library site), and Elm Street properties owned by Leon Eldred and George Plumb. The postal department had a four month option on the Elm Street site since July.
