Supreme Court Opens Term. Rejects Many Appeals
The Supreme Court on its first day back from summer recess refused to review hundreds of lower court rulings on school integration, impoundment of funds, obscenity and other matters. It denied Georgia’s bid to sue Nixon over education funds, time and again refused to overturn rulings on obscenity definitions, and declined cases involving Rich mond Virginia school integrations, Hoffa, blockbusting laws, sex in ads, and pay gaps. The court also agreed to rule on a military law provision linked to two servicemen punished for protesting the Vietnam War.
