Hackel plays down party defections in Vermont race

Democratic candidate Stella Hackel sought to minimize the defections within her party while launching harsh attacks on Republican rival Richard Snelling. She endorsed Burlington Mayor Gordon Paquette and accused Snelling of distorting her tax and gun control positions, pledging to veto any tax increase and urging repeal of the purchased power and fuel adjustment clause.
