Otis AFB Goat Mystery Ends With Five Month Wait
At Otis Air Force Base a nine acre ammo dump guards a small herd of six Nubian goats. T Sergeant H G Stewart oversees the goat operation and hopes a male goat will pair with a female, but jealous does thwart the attempt as the animals roam within the fenced dump and return at feeding time. Dogs Wimpy and Rags help corral the herd while base veterinarian Dr Robert A Swerczek monitors health and vaccinations. Stewart, a veteran of Korea and a Dorchester native, retires in November after 20 years. The outcome rests on a five month wait to see if Billy and a doe unite.
