State takes no action against abortion clinic
COLCHESTER Vermont Health Department says no statutory authority exists to regulate the Vermont Women’s Health Center, which has reportedly performed 10 abortions since opening last month. The department noted 16 abortions statewide this year, including 10 at the Colchester clinic, with oversight falling to the Board of Medical Registration.

Garden club to hear horticulturist at October meeting
The Plain Dirt Gardeners will hold their monthly meeting Tuesday October 10 at the Gid Bennington Library starting at 2 p.m. A business session will precede a talk by Dr Norman EB Pellett of Charlotte on Ornamental Horticulture. He is an Ohio State graduate active in Pellett Gardens and associated with the Vermont Agricultural Experiment Station.

Tutorial center to benefit from Oct 10 country concert
The Bennington Tutorial Assistance Center will receive proceeds from a free Oct 10 concert at Mt Anthony Union High School.
