Freda Betts was crowned Queen of the 1962 Fall Foliage Festival at Bennington Catholic High School in a two hour contest attended by about 700. Betts, 16, a Bennington junior, beat 24 other county contestants to win the tiara and a 10 day reign, with Diana Harmon and Gail Horst as runners up.
